Know Your Builder

Tennis court construction is a specialty business and following plans & specifications, knowledge, experience, precision and timing are of high importance.
Court construction must first determine the desired location.  Terrain, entry, underground or overhead problems, clearing and pad preparation with proper USTA court slope (courts should be playable 30 minutes after a rain). Confirm size, layout (North/South is highly suggested), and condition of the soil beneath the court to reflect possible soil stabilization needs.  Assure proper perimeter court drainage (no water should pond around the concrete slab).
  • Visit reference sites and check for any indication of unacceptable construction  (uneven or cracked concrete, surface problems, etc.)
  • Talk with contractor references about proposed builder
  • Ask specific questions about the concrete mix, placement process, finishing technique and final and very important concrete finish texture
  • When satisfied with contractor choice and the proposal, sign the contract proposal and schedule to begin work
  • Choose court colors within a week of starting work
